MORTEN ALFRED RECEIVES THIS YEAR'S DANISH MUSIC AWARD FOLK HONOR!

- It is with great honor and pleasure that I can congratulate this year's recipient of the DMA people's honorary award - musician, composer, project manager, radio host, politician and SO much more - MORTEN ALFRED HØIRUP

These were the words of Henrik Jansberg, spokesman for the committee behind Danish Music Award Folk 2012, when he revealed this year's recipient of the Year's Honorary Award. And the joy was great for the undersigned, who had to note that working with folk music has become more popular since the 80s, when a girlfriend at the time thought I was "almost penniless" when I told them that I made a living playing folk music.

In my previous career, I have been so extraordinarily lucky to receive seven more Danish Music Award statuettes, including the award as "Danish Folk Composer of the Year 2004", and I am very proud of each and every one.
